how to wear orange, part 2: with navy

This one is almost a no-brainer, friends! Orange and blue are complimentary colors, so navy and orange is a match made in heaven, and a summer fashion staple.

If you don’t want to look like an over-zealous college football fan, make sure your navy is very dark, and don’t be afraid to throw in some other neutrals like white or black.

The easiest thing in the world is to wear dark indigo blue jeans and silver jewelry to set off an orange top. The silver and dark blue work together to cool down the vibrant orange, and create a low-key, summery look.

But what if jeans are too casual? A cute little skirt with a flowy top creates a slightly dressier look, without taking away from the joy that orange is all about.

What do you like to see orange paired with?

  1. Orange has always been one of my favorite colors – especially in the Summer months – but I never thought of pairing it with navy! What a luscious idea. It makes perfect sense since, as you pointed out, the navy cools the vibrant tones of the orange while silver jewelry adds lustre and a touch of elegance Can’t wait to go put an outfit together using your criteria. Keep up the good work helping us look our best.

  2. Megan – I’d be happy to dress you 🙂 That little orange skirt would look so cute on you!

Patti – I’m glad you like! Let me know how it works out if you try this look.
